#roamthedistrict: rosslyn + georgetown igdc walk
This past weekend I was supposed to be out by the eastern shore of Maryland riding 100 miles by bike. Then a tremendous storm promised to hit the coast, so that didn’t happen. Instead I spent Saturday exploring DC in my favorite of conditions – fog and rain – with my favorite adventurers – the #IGDCfamily. I felt really lucky to be in town for the group's Instagram’s World Wide Instameet 12 that celebrated the app’s 5th birthday, especially after a week of dreading a long bike ride in heavy rain.
It’s hard to explain to someone what it’s like to roam around with a herd of talented photographers. To put it simply, you can drop this group in a seemingly boring location (sorry, Rosslyn, VA) and watch them churn out beauty. It is amazing to see what comes out of mundane buildings and bland landscaping.
As we made our way from Rosslyn’s business district across the river to Georgetown, you could see the creative juices flowing from our lenses. The poses, the composition and the collaboration on each shot kept getting better. Bolder.
In an effort to showcase the work that came out of the weekend, below are photos from photographers who asked to take my portrait. (tip: if you are shy and want to make friends at a photographer meet up, just wear something bright, like my yellow coat and boots. You’ll have the whole lot asking you to pose!) While risking coming off narcissistic by posting seven photos of myself, I am doing this to show the range of poses and edits across a common subject. These guys have talent and are some photographers I hope to grow with and know a long time.
And there are many, many other good ones. For more from the weekend follow along at #wwim12_igdc - they just keep coming.
